Reviving the music of the Orchid Islands; a feast, lasting the whole night, from dusk til dawn.
With a mythical sky that can almost be touched by hand, yet, with soil polluted by radioactive waste; this is the Orchid Islands and home to the Tao Tribe, who still use Mikarayag to reenact the legend of the imaziniaw (half human and half ghost). Orchid Island culture and arts historian, shyaman ferngayin (Kuo Chien-Ping), together with sixteen to twenty boys and girls, will perform the Mikarayag, a music and dance performance that emphasizes hand clapping. The performers are mostly tribal people and not performers by profession. By inviting tribal people to perform at the Kuandu Art Festival, the youth and elders of the Tao tribe will be able to sense Taiwan's commitment and care towards their culture. The more the audience, the more likely the Mikarayag will continue down into history.
